Success in dentistry is largely determined by the skill, caring, and expertise of the dentist and staff. Dr. Taylor has always strived to prove that excellence is not only found in large cities, but is available wherever dentists pursue it with passion! A consummate professional, Dr. Taylor has committed himself to the pursuit of continuing education for 32 years and is constantly enhancing his knowledge and skills. His professional staff members, each with an average of 12 years' experience, are an integral part of the patient’s treatment and results; together with Dr. Taylor they spend more three weeks a year advancing their knowledge through continuing education courses and seminars. Hands-on participation courses are selected to provide the best possible learning experience.
About Dr. Taylor
Dr. Taylor grew up in rural northern New Hampshire and enjoys a wide variety of outdoor interests and activities. He has two college-age daughters, and the office is graced with beautiful oil paintings created by his very talented wife. He received a B.S. in biology from the University of New Hampshire in 1969 and his D.D.S. degree from the University of Maryland in 1973. Based on the strong belief that a dental license is first and foremost a license to learn, Dr. Taylor chose to spend two years in the United States Air Force after graduation to perfect his clinical skills and further his education. An additional two years were spent as the clinical director of the Center for Community Dental Health in Portland, Maine before he started his private practice in Littleton in 1977.
Doctor originally meant "teacher," and Dr. Taylor tries to be this at all times. In Maine, Dr. Taylor was responsible for community dental education efforts, a hospital dental internship program, an in-and-out patient clinic, and hospital programs. Early in his career, Dr. Taylor completed a rigorous one-year comprehensive Advanced Prosthetic Restorative Techniques rehabilitation course. It was so powerful in changing his practice that he became an assistant instructor for the course at Boston University’s School of Dentistry.
He spent additional time with dental study clubs, as a board member of the Littleton Home Health Agency, in local hospital affiliations and lectures, and in community health education programs. In recent years, he has concentrated his educational efforts where he has always felt they did the most good: on his patients. Informed patients make the best health decisions!
Dr. Taylor continues to avidly pursue training in the fields of reconstructive care (white fillings, bite-related care), periodontics (non-surgical and medication-based treatment emphasized), endodontics (one-visit root canal therapy), and removable prosthetics (beautiful, natural full and partial dentures). He places special emphasis on both the disciplines of cosmetic dentistry (veneers, whitening, porcelain crowns and fillings) and simple and complex prosthetics (single crowns and small bridges to full mouth rehabilitative care for those with advanced, complex problems).
Sherry Barton: Expert Dental Technician
In 1982, Dr. Taylor was extremely fortunate to hire Sherry Barton, a truly world class dental technician, to make all his crowns and bridges. Sherry was taught under the direct supervision of one of the finest reconstructive dentists and teachers in America, Dr. Gilford Fox. After a long, close association with Dr. Fox, who taught thousands of dentists how to treat the most challenging and demanding cases in dentistry using all the disciplines at their disposal, Dr. Fox found that Dr. Taylor shared the same passion for excellence and made the extraordinary offer to share his laboratory technician. It is one of the things for which Dr. Taylor is most proud, and he is thankful for her expertise every single day.
